“Lies About Love” | Week 9
“They’ll Grow Out of It” | Psalm 127:3-5
Buildings aren’t constructed accidentally. Visions are cast. Blueprints are drawn. Laborers work hard for weeks and months according to the plans to create something that is beautiful, useful, and sturdy. In the Christian life, it is our aim that we will become mature disciples of Jesus Christ. Yet how many of us have a clear vision of what a disciple looks like? How many of us have a plan for how we will reach that vision of a disciple? And how many of us spend time working hard according to the plan to reach the desired vision?
Whether you’re hoping to raise your children as disciples of Jesus or you’re fighting to become a disciple yourself, it’s critical that you think intentionally about where you’re going and how you’re going to get there. As Paul states in 1 Cor. 3:12-13, each of us is building our house out of something: wood, hay, straw, gold, silver, or precious stones. Take some time today to consider if you’ve been intentionally building your house according to the plan and with the right materials or if you’ve just been passively watching as your house sits unfinished.
I hope to see you this Sunday as we continue to unpack lies about love.
