Get To Know: Leanne Thomas
We have some incredible servant leaders at PBC. One of them is Leanne Thomas, a long term member, and also our new church admin. Get to know some of her story and say Hi when you see her!
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in what’s known as “America’s Finest City”- San Diego, CA. I know what you’re going to ask next…. “Why did you move to Phoenix?!” and “Do you surf?” I’ve actually never been surfing in my life, and though it was a hard transition just continue reading to find out how a San Diego girl ended up in the desert.
What brought you to Arizona?
I met my husband Nathan in San Diego, but he grew up in the Northwest Phoenix area. He decided to go back to school and get his degree in Graphic Design after selling his business in San Diego. January 2009, we moved to Phoenix while he was in school because it was much more affordable. The plan was to move back to San Diego when he was done, but because Phoenix is SO much more affordable than San Diego we were able to buy a house here. Luckily, my family still lives in San Diego so we go and visit often but Phoenix is definitely home for us now.
Tell us about your family.
Nathan, my incredible husband is my best friend and biggest champion. We’ve been together for almost 11 years now, married for 7, and I can’t imagine a better partner or father. God has blessed me beyond what I could have hoped for in a husband.
We have two girls, Poppy who is 4 and Wren who is 1. Poppy is super spunky, and you’ll most likely find her in church eating all the sprinkle donuts or trying to jam with the worship band. Wren has the most infectious smile, big inquisitive eyes and currently loves giving high fives. We also have baby 3 coming at the end of July this summer, so you could say we’re a fairly busy family!
What do you like to do for fun?
Our kids and work keep us pretty busy, but I do enjoy reading a good book when I get some alone time. Nathan and I are both big into music, so our date nights usually encompass seeing our favorite bands when they come through Phoenix. We like to consider ourselves “foodies” of sorts and really enjoy eating a delicious meal. Phoenix is home to some incredible restaurants, so we like to try new places when they open or head to a favorite spot. Our current favorite splurge spot is Restaurant Progress, it’s incredible!
What is your favorite part of your work at the church?
I love helping in any capacity. I’ve volunteered in our Kids Ministry, event planning, and now in a more official role as PBC’s admin. I have a heart for hospitality, planning and organizing and love being able to live out my gifts by serving our church. I hope that my role here will help to serve, love, and care for everyone who comes to Phoenix Bible Church.
