2020 Year In Review

What a Year.

This year has presented each of us, and our church family, with numerous difficulties, but also exciting new opportunities. Thank you sincerely for stepping up in so many faithful and creative ways to truly “be the church” and meet the many needs that this unique season has presented.

I wanted to share with you just some of the ways that God has used our church for kingdom impact in the heart of Phoenix, as well as inform you of a growing need that you can be a part of as we approach 2021.

Because of your generosity in 2020, our PBC family has seen Love Move in the following ways:

  1. Meeting our General Ministry Budget of $23,500/month 11 out of 12 months in 2020! THANK YOU for your faithful and sacrificial giving! *You can always see our monthly giving reports in the PBC App
  2. A robust benevolence program which has met the life-sustaining needs of numerous people in our congregation and community.
  3. Launching “Love Fosters”, a new ministry impacting foster kids and families in the Phoenix area
  4. Healthy and Hospitable upgrades to the church campus including new carpet, new stage, touch-free hand sanitizing stations, and other supplies
  5. New equipment, technology, and lighting that enables us to bring church into homes via livestream across PBC, Phoenix, and beyond.
    • Our most recent numbers from all 3 platforms (PBC Website, YouTube, & Facebook) shows about 150 unique visitors or views per Sunday, which accounts for around 300 people (conservative estimate) watching our online services on a given Sunday.
    • Add to that those joining in person and we are reaching around 420 people total each Sunday with the transforming love of Jesus! While the math and numbers can seem tedious and even insignificant, each number represents a person, and each person represents a story eternally impacted by Jesus.
  6. A phone-based check-in ministry to connect, serve and encourage across our church database
  7. Launching a 2nd Worship Gathering on Sunday mornings
  8. Mid-Week Prayer Gatherings via our online platforms
  9. Weekly online resources for students and children to help them love and live like Jesus
  10. Re-Launching our Nursery to serve families in a safe and welcoming environment
  11. All church zoom gatherings to stay connected during quarantine
  12. Resources for staff, leaders, and teams to help more people love Jesus, live like Him, and lead others to Him
  13. Counseling, retreats, and additional care to equip families and individuals in areas of spiritual, mental, and relational health

A comment from one of our leaders really sums up God’s faithfulness in 2020:

“God expedited things we planned to go slow on and made us slow down on other things until they were fully in His plan. 2020 felt like a clear and constant reminder that His plan is perfect, whether it’s quicker or slower than we expect.”

Looking Forward to 2021

As we move into the new year, our prayer is to continue to help people love Jesus, live like Him, and lead others to Him amidst the challenges and changes we are facing now, and will face in the future. We are fully committed to serving the people God has entrusted to us, and will bring to us in 2021. In order to do this, there are a few key additions to our staff we need to make:

  1. Full-Time Associate Pastor (studies, groups, missions, and care)
  2. Part-Time Kids Director
  3. Part-Time Executive Administrator

With these additions and the anticipation of ministry that will be much needed in this season (grief care, counseling, equipping leaders, partnership with Phx Christian School etc), I ask that you prayerfully consider giving a year-end gift. Your giving will help our church enter 2021 equipped to rise to meet the needs and challenges that come our way, as well as to increase kingdom impact in the heart of our city.
